Donation Rumor
On 12/14 WINK NEWS Channel 5 came to the house to do a story about our lights and the donations. We are so very grateful to WINK for airing this story. Thanks to them traffic has increased tremendously along with the donations.While doing interviews a gentleman made a joke about leaving donations for the electric bill and even the anchor person picked up on the joke. We are not mad at either of them because we know they were only kidding.
However, a couple asked one night if it was true that we used the money from the donation box for the electric bill.
Please rest assured that 100% of that money down to the last penny goes towards our Christmas for Kids program. Yes, a very small portion goes towards wrapping paper, bows, name tags and other very small items. I would say in all 98% goes towards presents.
The week of Christmas NBC 2 & ABC 7 also aired the light show and they pointed out that all the money goes to the charity.
We would never take away from a child and again, we ARE NOT angry at all because we know that it was just a joke. We are grateful to every last person that stops by because they are the ones that make these wishes come true for needy children.
